A Breath Away
The feature film debut by writer/director, Kit Hui, A Breath Away interweaves the stories of three families living in a Hong Kong apartment complex. Set during an impending typhoon, the residents battle with swarms of flies that have mysteriously invaded their homes.

As each family copes with their lives in isolation, typhoon Ellen brings heavy winds and rain that whip the city, knocking out electricity and leaving the residents engulfed in darkness. For the first time, the neighbors become aware of the loneliness that exists so close to home and the longing to connect that invisibly binds them together.

Weaving the stories of these three family units through a landscape rich in metaphor, A Breath Away gives a poignant and accurate portrayal of modern life in which one can be alone even in a crowd of people.

A Breath Away is currently in development. It has been selected to participate in the 2006 Sundance Screenwriter's Lab in January, The Hong Kong Asian Film Financing Forum (HAF), as well as the 2006 Cannes Résidence du Festival in March.
